Feedfetcher-Google
This is probably old news to most yet I hadn’t noticed the topic in Workboxers archives. “Feedfetcher-Google” is the way looks in your stats.
The : “Google is a strong believer in the self-publishing phenomenon represented by blogging, and we hope Blog Search will help our users to explore the blogging universe more effectively, and perhaps inspire many to join the revolution themselves.”
I particularly like Goog’s . Google says that their Blog Search “results include all blogs, not just those published through Blogger; our blog index is continually updated, so you’ll always get the most accurate and up-to-date results; and you can search not just for blogs written in English, but in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and other languages as well.”
I’ll leave it up to you whether that is true. I have a search for my thought on my next topic here open in another window and actually there are more than 50% from Blogspot and quite a number from forums. It is only one search.
When asked what Blogs are included in Blog Search, Google says: “The goal of Blog Search is to include every blog that publishes a site feed (either RSS or Atom). It is not restricted to Blogger blogs, or blogs from any other service.” They also mention that to get your Blog listed - “If your blog publishes a site feed in any format and automatically pings an updating service (such as ), we should be able to find and list it.”
They find it with Feedfetcher. Feedfetcher becomes very interesting that “Feedfetcher shouldn’t retrieve feeds from most sites more than once every hour on average. Some frequently updated sites may be refreshed more often. Note, however, that due to network delays, it’s possible that Feedfetcher may briefly appear to retrieve your feeds more frequently.”
It has been my personal experience that Google picks up on Technorati’s pings. If you’re set up to ping Technorati when you publish you’ll have no problem being listed by Google.
