Work Boxers

Moving To WordPress

by Paul on September 26th, 2005

I am moving Work Boxers over to WordPress shortly. I probably won’t bother with trying to get the archives moved over and dealing with the permalink structure, but since MT builds all its files everything will remain intact.

Also note that the feed url will change, which could be remedied with a 301 in the .htaccess file, but I am sure the 10 people who read this site don’t need me to do all of that for them :-).

It’s 1:00am here so I can’t say there will be a lot of stuff going on tomorrow. Instead I will say there will be a lot of stuff going on in a couple of hours or hell maybe I will ignore my bloodshot eyes and write some stuff up after I get WP up.

UPDATE: Well that didn’t take long and I imported the entries from MT as well. Of course the permalinks are different, but you can still find the old stuff if you click from somewhere else. New beginnings with new software. Woohoo.

Though I really do hope you get back your old design, it rocked.

Well the old design is for Whitespace. I was just using it as a placeholder on this site. I wouldn’t use it for this site since the content will be more rapid here (sometimes a couple entries a day) and that design is not too kind to sites like that.

Also I wanted a basic template for the Fine Fools sites so I could easily make changes.

Matt: How in the hell do you find out these things so quickly? All kidding aside there are at least 5 of you roaming the web at all times right?

Is there a specific reason you moved away from MT?

It’s just easier to work within one application across a network of sites instead of having a hybrid network with a couple of different applications. Small template changes would have required me to figure out two separate template languages.

Also working with Colin on WordPress at 9rules has allowed me to become quite familiar with it and its plugins.

Good choice, Scrivs! I used to use MT and now I’m using WP and I do agree with you. Do you have a plan to move the Whitespace from MT to WP? ;)

If someone volunteers to do it and can promise to keep the permalinks intact I wouldn’t have a problem switching over.
