Yahoo Ads Up
Well 9rules was accepted into the Yahoo Publisher Network Beta and I have implemented the ads on this site to see how things work out. Probably not the best way to test due to the lack of traffic on this site, but it will give me an idea of what’s going on. Currently I am seeing general PSA ads and I am guessing their robot simply has to spider the pages. Hopefully that doesn’t take too long.
Last week I mentioned bringing some changes and you can already see some of those changes on Whitespace with regards to content and blogging. Work Boxers has a ton of content in storage and a new approach that hopefully I can get out either Friday or Monday. It’s more of a Rowse approach, but with the usual original content.
I have also taken over Keith Robinson’s Successful Blog so I have to figure out how to integrate that into the fold as well. Maybe it will focus on strictly blog stuff while Work Boxers will veer more towards the business aspect of things.
What do you think?

So far all I am getting are these PSAs. Very disappointing.

Two things I like about the appearance compared to Google ads:
1. The larger font, which would blend the ads better in the design of some of my sites;
2. “Ads by Yahoo!” is not underlined, nor a link.

I’m surprised that the ads aren’t showing yet, usually Google picks up my sites fairly quickly, in fact tailing my log files shows its ad bot fetching each page that has ads on when someone else loads it for the first time. I suppose Yahoo are still beta testing their service though so perhaps this is just a teething problem that will get sorted soon - after all it’s to get rid of problems like this before public release that beta programmes are for.

The Ads shown seem relevant to me, so that’s a good start.

I am convinced that somehow I did the implementation wrong because there is no reason I should be receiving PSAs on every single entry still.
Let’s see what I can do to fix it.

It’s hard to comment without seeing what the ads look like.
By the way, I really miss your links to other content around the blogosphere related to blogging and making money. Any chance of bringing that back in some format?

Christian,
Yeah you will see more links across the web with my thoughts, I just have to figure out how to separate Successful Blog and Work Boxers. I am also toying with new layouts and features.

can i choose your blog specifically and then bid against other advertisers for prefeered placement? that’s what is needed in this space.

Not that I know of…but that is totally different from the Publishers network. That’s more the advertisers side which I don’t touch.

Where can one sign up for the Yahoo Ads program? I tried looking, and couldn’t find it.
