Why Is Good Customer Service Lost On Most?

by Mark on January 4th, 2008

Joe Nocera speaks eloquently of growth and success in his article “Put Buyers First? What A Concept” and I couldn’t agree more with this;

“I couldn’t help wondering if maybe there wasn’t something else at play here (other than margin obsession), something Wall Street never seems to take very seriously. Maybe, just maybe, taking care of customers is something worth doing when you are trying to create a lasting company. Maybe, in fact, it’s the best way to build a real business — even if it comes at the expense of short-term results.”

Something Wall Street never seems to take very seriously??? No way - you mustn’t be serious…

When did we all lose our minds and throw the most basic principle of business success out the window? Might it have been when we embraced the attitude of entitlement? Ya’ think?

Not to ignore mentioning moral turpitude in order to drive traffic for some unknown motive - “smoking” many “believers.”

    I’ve been on both sides of the fence. As a consumer and as a seller. In my opinion, customer service is still one of the most important keys to business success. Maybe it’s because I believe in forging long-term relationships with my customers. I say never underestimate the power of connections and word-of-mouth.
