Getting Clear
In response to “The Law of Attraction and A Rank Beginner” both John and Jeannette said the same thing.
John said: “Benefitting from the Law of Attraction begins with getting totally clear on what you want to attract, and allowing that vibration to grow and resonate.”
Jeannette said: “Let the Universe make some magic happen for you! You do that by getting clear about what you want, and flowing some nice energy towards that vision.”
Clear-headed about what I want.
Once again, from Steve Pavlina: “If your thoughts are conflicted, your reality is conflicted.” I can attest to this with no difficulty whatever. This, I believe, is truly my starting point. To somehow clear the conflict from my thoughts. Steve also says: “in practice it’s next to impossible to uncreate what you’ve already manifested. You’ll continue creating the same problems just by noticing them. But when you assume 100% responsibility for everything you’re experiencing in your reality right now — absolutely everything — then you assume the power to alter your reality by rechanneling your thoughts.” Thankfully, this, assuming personal responsibility, is something I’ve been practicing for quite some time.
Having accomplished clearing my thoughts I’ll look to “allowing that vibration to grow and resonate,” and to “flow some nice energy towards that vision.”
Proponents of the modern ‘Law of Attraction’ claim that it has roots in Quantum Physics. According to the ‘law of attraction’, thoughts have an energy that attracts like energy. In order to control this energy, proponents state that people must practice four things:
- Know what one desires and ask the universe for it. (The “universe” is mentioned broadly, stating that it can be anything from God to an unknown source of energy.)
- Focus one’s thought upon the thing desired with great feeling such as enthusiasm or gratitude.
- Feel and behave as if the object of one’s desire is on its way.
- Be open to receiving it.
Thinking of what one does not have, manifests itself in the perpetuation of not having. Proponents say that by abiding by these principles, and avoiding “negative” thoughts, the Universe will manifest a person’s desires.
Which reinforces this, also from Steve;
“When you notice yourself feeling bad, you’ve caught yourself thinking about something you don’t want. Turn your focus back towards what you do want, and your emotional state will improve rapidly. As you do this repeatedly, you’ll begin to see your physical reality shift too, first in subtle ways and then in bigger leaps.”

Hi Mark………
I found your blog because of the great conversation going on here!
My thoughts —
Meditation is a great tool to help quiet the mind. And - I absolutely agree with Jeanette about the action. Getting lined up with your energy and then taking action – that would be inspired action.
When I come from inspired action – I don’t really care if it is constructive – I don’t have to care – because it will be in total alignment with my creative flow!
I’m going to guess that you have been there – in that place where you are doing something you love – and it is all just falling into place. When I am in the flow – I can play (some people call it work) for hours and hours and hours – It is invigorating and engaging.
Now sometimes I have made a commitment to myself or others to do something and when the time comes – I am really not all that thrilled with doing it. Then what? Does that mean I am not in my flow so I should just dump the commitment?
Well – for me the answer is usually No – but I do believe this is a personal perspective area. I, normally, would not be comfortable with dumping the commitment – So I need to soften my resistance about the commitment. That really isn’t a hard thing to do……..
I dialogue with me – If this was a commitment with another person the dialogue might go like. OK – doing this really isn’t a big deal – I did promise to do this and so and so would be really upset if I didn’t – and I would not be comfortable with that. So…. I’ll go do this – it won’t be long and who knows I actually might end up enjoying it. Whatever – it isn’t a big deal – and if I just dumped them – that would definitely make me more uncomfortable………So – I’ll just go and I’ll expect to have a good time.
If the commitment was to myself – maybe I had decided to do some much needed filing in my office. The dialogue would go like — OK – this is not a big deal – I’ll file for ½ hour then take a break. I know that if I get some of these papers put away – I really will feel like I can breathe in this office – and that will certainly make me feel better. So while I might not be all inspired to get this work done – I know in the end I will feel better. I’ll go ahead and start it and see how it goes.
The real bottom line here for me is – I did not beat up on myself – I did not tell myself I had to be productive – I am looking at both sides of the situation and seeing that in the end – I will feel better about doing this commitment….
And – if for some reason – I still thought – No – I absolutely feel that going or doing would not be beneficial to me – then I would follow that guidance and I would not honor the commitment.
By being kind to myself – by listening to my own inner voice – I end up with so much more power in my life and then the situations that arise are always to my best interests.
