A New Way Of Thinking
The Business Channel theme for Friday is New Beginnings, Graduation and the like.
I’d like to consider, and offer some thoughts, to those graduates or new workers who’ve felt down, confused, scared or even lost. The future is a big deal to some, right?
Therefore, A New Way of Thinking or - Make A New Beginning by Thinking Positive!
Which applies an assumption that you may be working with a negative thought pattern. Those who aren’t may not benefit - let’s stay with those who can use this…
I want to borrow from Vatche Bartekian. Vatche says “With all the challenges that we face in life, it has become especially important to condition ourselves to think positively. Doing so will improve our health and well-being, and that of those who depend on us.”
In his article Vatche makes some excellent points, points that you might simply want to file away or refer to another time, but valid points nonetheless. His first point;
Depression is inevitable!
Might sound, what, depressing? Consider - “Everyone on this planet has been depressed at least once in their life. Depression is part of a normal cycle of emotions that we endure when faced with uncertainties and obstacles.” I agree. Vatche’s point is there is a different way of perceiving the challenge. I understand him as saying that, since depression is inevitable, plan for it in a way that enables you to deal with it when it comes in a positive manner!
“The key to successfully conquering depression is to prevent negative emotions from taking control of your life by changing your lifestyle and attitude. You need to have a positive outlook on life, otherwise depression will always win.”
His second point;
Find Positive Thinking Friends!
Keeping it simple - during a recent, troubling time, Vatche sought the counsel of a friend who’s outlook on life was positive 90% of the time. “this positivity is what saved me from the pits of depression; and I feel better than ever.”
I’ll be happy to tell you that I continue to have an almost identical life experience. I live with a very powerful negative thinker who will not in any way, shape or form, admit to it. Yet I have been graced to be surrounded by many positive thinkers and they help me maintain a very large portion of my serenity. When I lose my serenity it becomes almost impossible to work. I know about this one!
His third point;
Is a short series of Positive Thinking Tips. “These tips may help you prevent depression and they might just help you become more successful.”
Learn To Enjoy Compliments - “A positive thinker will see his accomplishments and reward himself for them.”
Establish Life Goals - “By establishing concrete and realistic goals, you set a standard for yourself to reach in a certain period of time. And once you reach your goals, more positive thoughts will begin to arise regarding your capabilities and skills. And best of all, your confidence level will soar.”
Keep An Open Mind - “People who believe that they know everything are naive. Instead, a person should be more open-minded and try to envision a world of possibilities that could not have existed yesterday. Once you begin to do so, a creative and positive flow of thoughts will stream out of you — guaranteed.”
Embrace Your Independence - “Independence grants the freedom to think and create, and to grow as you wish — hopefully in a positive way.”
Vatche’s last point;
Positive Outlook
“When the weight of daily stress burdens you, it can be difficult to see anything in a positive way. It will take some work, but learning to think positively will change your outlook on life.”
Vatche has more to say and I’d suggest reading his entire article.
I have a personal, passionate belief, that Positive Thinking promotes success and Negative Thinking promotes failure. How do you feel? How do you think?
