Pay Per Post Launches ReviewMe Competitor

by kris on May 25th, 2007

Yesterday Pay Per Post unveiled a new service called Pay Per Post Direct which allows advertisers to select a specific blog to write a review about their product, service, or web site. Prior to the launch of the service reviews or paid posts could be ordered by a given quantity, parameters could be set, and suited blogs could then accept and post the review.  This new system directly allows advertisers to select and order reviews from a blog of their choosing.

This program is nearly identical to PPP’s largest competitor ReviewMe. ReviewMe is the largest site of this nature which directly allows review to be ordered. The companies are on similar yet opposite paths. Pay Per Post started with the generla marketplace while ReviewMe launched their single blog reviews first. Since their launch the company has diversified their products with a Advertiser Marketplace that competes with PPP allowing advertisers to order mass reviews from qualifying blogs. PPP Direct essentially completes the cycle.

The biggest flaw with the Pay Per Post Direct concept is that, at present, there is no central place to scan through potential blogs in a directory format. This is what makes ReviewMe so much better in my opinion. At a glance (at with a few mouse clicks) an advertiser can skim through the blogs finding ones they like and selectively choosing them. PPP Direct relies on advertisers seeing a badge on a participating blog and selecting to advertise on it. I think PPP will make a dent in this field but I think it will have a difficult time passing ReviewMe until they add the directory feature.

I’ll leave you with a good perspective of why this new program is better for you as an online money maker compared to their blog marketplace from the PPP blog:

You have two badges on your site, both for $200. An Advertiser clicks one of them and you make $100 and the blog marketplace makes $100. They click the PPP Direct badge and you make $200 and the blog marketplace makes $20. Why would you ever want to take less money? Why would the advertiser want to give half to the blog marketplace? With PPP Direct the advertiser gets more bang for their buck and you make more money.
