Did the move work?
So why even bother changing domains if Google did have Big Money Tips indexed you are asking yourself (at least I am guessing you are)? Well if you notice 99% of the sites indexed are from the store (which has the wrong title…whoops) and the home page of Big Money Tips that is indexed is the placeholder page Godaddy uses when you register a domain. Also take note that the url is www.bigmoneytips.com and I make sure to never have the www enabled on my addresses.
Still having 1300 pages indexed is better than none right? Well when the site has a PR of 0 basically you get no hits coming to those indexed pages so they become useless.
Now look at the results for Work Boxers and you will see that the correct homepage is already indexed and that happened in less than a day. So it seems that I made the right move by moving domains. However, this is only a one day analysis so in a month we should have a better picture of things.

Well, a good start would be to actually install your store ;)

When I moved Passive Digressive to a real domain name (rather than the dyndns address pointing to my Mac), I took several steps to get the new site indexed and noted as fast as possible. Each of my pages on the old URL now redirect to the equivalent location on the new domain using a simple line of PHP:
Google seemed to pick up on this really quickly.
Also, I redirected my RSS feed (had only one at the time) in my .htaccess file like this:
Redirect permanent /index.xml http://passivedigressive.com/rss2.xml
Cool enough, Bloglines picked up on this and anyone subscribed to the old feed was automatically switched over to the new one. Of course, clients which aren’t this smart will still get redirected, so everyone wins in the end.

Yeah I have a ton of redirects happening in my .htaccess across my sites.
Oh and the store is up Kyle. Sorry it took about 12 minutes.

Its a good move - i noticed the same thing when I changed domains, but suspect I might now be in the sandbox….lets hope it doesn’t stay there long….

Google Dance, Work Boxers
Of course, sometimes there’s something genuinely wrong, and you’ve got to take major corrective action. Paul “Man with the Plan” Scrivens recently went through this…

Of all my sites, Big Money Tips was the only one to be in the ’sandbox’. The rest get indexed instantly and you can see search engine hits coming in after a few days.

I also really love the new domain.
Just noticed while browsing the entries here at workboxers.com that they are much more targeted to the post’s content than before.
At the old domain the ads that Google deemed most relevant repeated themselves at every post and were always focused on making money, home business and MLM type ads. I think by having “money” in the domain beforehand influenced Google too much.
Will be interesting to see any differences in CTR I would imagine.
