Top 10 Blogger and Webmaster Salaries

by kris on May 9th, 2007

Paula Mooney has compiled a list of earnings for bloggers and webmasters and it is an inspirational bunch to take a look at. The list goes far beyond the top 10 (right now it sits at 60) but here are the top 10 earners from the list:

  1. Markus Frind ($3,650,000.00)
  2. David Miles Jr. and Kato Leonard
  3. Jason Calacanis
  4. Tim Carter
  5. Rosalind Gardner
  6. Steve Pavlina
  7. Matther Daimler
  8. Joel Comm
  9. Jose Ribeiras
  10. Sharon Maguire ($237,250.00)

What do you think of this list? Is it an inspiration to see how much can be made online or disappointing because most of us are earning far less? Check out the complete list on Paula’s site.

This is false and misleading information. We made a lot of money at Weblogs,Inc., but I didn’t make that as a “salary” –our company made that producing 100 blogs with 300 bloggers and an advertising force. This is not something an individual can do and I highly recommend folks put those numbers in context. Also, we started weblogs in 2003/2004 when blogging was still very new. in fact getting paid to blog was considered–well–crazy. We had large blogs very quickly like autoblog, engadget, and joystiq. You can’t just create huge blogs like that any more–you would have to invest MILLIONS of dollars.

Thanks for clarifying Jason. I only reported these numbers, Paula explains on her site how she derived them but it is great of you to clarify these. They are not 100% accurate and I don’t think they were ever intended to be but rather they were meant to paint a general picture of the money making landscape.

I am recent to blogging but I know building a massive blogs like the ones you listed take lots of great writers, time, and money.

Your time to clarify these stats is much appreciated.
